IIT ISM Dhanbad is recruiting for the following research position:

  • Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - This position has the potential to be converted into a full-time PhD registration, subject to institute norms and candidate performance.

Eligibility Criteria (Qualification & Age)

Educational Qualification:

  • Essential Qualification: Candidates must hold a Master's degree (M.Tech / M.Sc.) in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mining Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, or similar fields. A valid GATE score in the respective discipline is mandatory. Applicants are also required to meet the minimum academic performance as per institute norms (typically 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA).
  • Desirable Qualification: Prior research or project experience will be an added advantage. Exposure to data analysis, programming languages like Python, R, MATLAB, familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), document processing, text mining, AI/ML, GIS, or other domain-specific tools is highly desirable.

Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit for applicants is 35 years, calculated as of the date of the interview.
  • Age relaxation will be provided to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per the extant Government of India rules.
  • Candidates with relevant research or work experience in industries will be granted an additional age relaxation of 2 years.

Salary Structure

The selected Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will receive a competitive and consolidated stipend of Rs. 31,000/- per month.
